THE Ilemela District
commissioner Amina Masenza has promised to support engagement Strategy
between Ilemela Civil Societies Network and Ilemela Municipal Council
aiming at enhancing dialogue.
In her closing remark
during the climate change adaption and mitigation dialogue yesterday at
Buswelu ward in Mwanza City, DC Masenza said that having developed the
strategy would be very much important to curb pollution in Ilemela
district and entire Mwanza city.
“You know the first
Enemy of environment pollution and environment degradation as well as
deforestation is human being, saying human activities has turned and
cause the climate change,” Dc explained.
The Ilemela District
Civil society’s net works (ILEDICNET) Nicas Nibengo said that to develop
engagement strategy between ILEDICNET and Ilemela Municipal Council on
climatic change adaption and mitigation aim to enhance dialogue on
climate change between Civil Societies Organization (CSOS) and Local
Government Authority (LGA).
He said that this
engagement will engage citizens in participants in climate change
adaption and mitigation in enabling environmental pollution,
deforestation and degradation something that has brought about rain
scarcity and extra ordinary temperature.
Nibengo noted that
this will also improve partnership between private sector, civil
societies and government sector sectors to innovate diversity plans that
would facilitate to educate and make awareness to the citizens in
addressing the impact of climate change in the municipality.
The facilitators of
the dialogue Mr Donald Kasongi and Edward Munaaba expressed that the
adaption has purpose to enable people manage their lives when gets the
climate change effects and take steps to mitigate environmental
pollution that caused by emissions that contribute to the climate
change.
The executive
Director for Africa Partnership on Climate change coalition, Mr Edward
Munaaba says that suppose if the human being does not change the life
style by 2030 there will be more than 400 million climate refuges in
Africa and exodus of youth to abroad.
He said that the
astonishing is that there have been 500 international agreements and
have been concluded since 1972 the year of the Stockholm conference and
establishment of United nations environment program but still
environment challenges.
